A few nations have been fruitful at discovering answers for this issue yet others have not. Japan is one of the last nations. Despite the fact that Japan has one of the most noteworthy future rates and a notoriety for good personal satisfaction for its old populace, it has been fruitless at tending to this issue. Contrasted with other industrialized nations, Japan falls behind in programs for older folks who are genuinely handicapped, laid up or needing long haul care. The current monetary emergency is intensifying this circumstance as the legislature is cutting financing for senior projects. This issue resounds profoundly with me, and I would like to some time or another work on finding an answer. It is hence that I am applying to the alumni program in social work at Boston University: I look for the abilities and information I have to come back to Japan and work for a social work adminis tration. à My enthusiasm for the old goes back to my adolescence. Growing up with my grandparents incredibly affected my qualities and character: they instructed me to act naturally roused and trained. Their flexibility and backing has helped me to continue on in any event, when gone up against with apparently outlandish deterrents. On account of their benevolence toward me I have a profound regard for them and for older individuals by and large. This is the thing that inspires me to get associated with the field of social work. à Generally in Japanese society, the consideration of one's folks is accepted to be the youngsters' obligation. After World War II, such conventions have advanced because of changes in family structure. Never again is the oldest youngster the just one to acquire his parent's property, and two-salary families have become the standard. These progressions have left Japanese individuals at a misfortune with regards to how to think about their maturing guardians. The current reaction to this issue is by all accounts hospitalization. à Families progressively hospitalize their older folks who are genuinely incapacitated, laid up or needing long haul care. These people are normally moved to nursing homes, but since of scanty housing and a one to multi year hold up list, they wind up remaining with relatives who are frequently sick prepared to think about them. Thus, there are various rates of senior maltreatment by relatives and senior self destruction. lorrainekelly146http://www.blogger.com/profile/02917134569541227738noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6861576014703879476.post-91187551309016298672020-08-22T07:07:00.001-07:002020-08-22T07:07:08.465-07:00Effects of Social NetworkingPerson to person communication has become a notable to all and all as of late. Besides, individuals who are bashful out in the open exploit utilizing public destinations. Thinking past the interpersonal organization ought to be hard for them. While high profile police shootings might lead to you think that cops have the most dangerous job, statistics actually show that loggers are more likely to die on the job than cops. When it comes to making this type of judgment about relative risk or danger, our brains rely on a number of different strategies to make quick decisions. This illustrates what is known as the availability heuristic, a mental shortcut that helps you make fast, but sometimes incorrect, assessments. There are all kinds of mental shortcuts, but a common one involves relying on information that comes to mind quickly. This is known as availability. If you can quickly think of multiple examples of something happeningâ"such as police shootingsâ"you will believe that it is more common. Illustration by Emily Roberts, Verywell How the Availability Heuristic Works When you are trying to make a decision, a number of related events or situations might immediately spring to the forefront of your thoughts. As a result, you might judge that those events are more frequent or probable than others. You give greater credence to this information and tend to overestimate the probability and likelihood of similar things happening in the future. For example, after seeing several news reports about car thefts, you might make a judgment that vehicle theft is much more common than it really is in your area. This type of availability heuristic can be helpful and important in decision-making. When faced with a choice, we often lack the time or resources to investigate in greater depth. Faced with the need for an immediate decision, the availability heuristic allows people to quickly arrive at a conclusion. This can be helpful when you are trying to make a decision or judgment about the world around you. For example, would you say that there are more words in the English language that begin with the letter t or with the letter k? You might try to answer this question by thinking of as many words as you can that begin with each letter. Since you can think of more words that begin with t, you might then believe that more words begin with this letter than with k. In this instance, the availability heuristic has let you to a correct answer. In another example, researchers have found that people who are more easily able to recall seeing antidepressant advertising were also more likely to give high estimates about the prevalence of depression. Availability Heuristic and Incorrect Decisions The term was first coined in 1973 by Nobel-prize winning psychologists Amos Tversky and Daniel Kahneman. They suggested that the availability heuristic occurs unconsciously and operates under the principle that if you can think of it, it must be important. Things that come to mind more easily are believed to be far more common and more accurate reflections of the real world. As Tversky and Kahneman explained, one of the most obvious examples of the availability heuristic in action is the impact of readily available examples. Common Pitfalls of Availability Heuristic Like other heuristics, the availability heuristic can be useful at times. However, it can lead to problems and errors. Reports of child abductions, airplane accidents, and train derailments often lead people to believe that such events are much more typical than they truly are. For example, after you see a movie about a nuclear disaster, you might become convinced that a nuclear war or accident is highly likely. After seeing a car overturned on the side of the road, you might believe that your own likelihood of getting in an accident is very high. Plus, the longer you stay preoccupied with the event, the more available it will be in your mind and the more probable you will believe it to be. The problem is that certain events tend to stand out in our minds more than others. Excessive media coverage can cause this to happen, but sometimes the novelty or drama surrounding an event can cause it to become more available in your memory. Because the event is so unusual, it takes on greater significance, which leads you to incorrectly assume that the event is much more common than it really is. Examples of the Availability Heuristic After seeing news reports about people losing their jobs, you might start to believe that you are in danger of being laid-off. You start lying awake in bed each night worrying that you are about to be fired. After seeing several television programs on shark attacks, you start to think that such incidences are relatively common. When you go on vacation, you refuse to swim in the ocean because you believe the probability of a shark attack is high. After reading an article about lottery winners, you start to overestimate your own likelihood of winning the jackpot. You start spending more money than you should each week on lottery tickets. After seeing news stories about high-profile child abductions, you begin to believe that such tragedies are quite common. You refuse to let your child play outside by herself and never let her leave your sight. A Word From Verywell Heuristics play an important role in how we make decisions and act upon information in the world around us. The availability heuristic can be a helpful tool, but it is also important to remember that it can sometimes lead to incorrect assessments. Just because something looms large in your memory does not necessarily mean that it is more common, so it can be helpful to rely on numerous tools and decision-making strategies when you are trying to make a choice. lorrainekelly146http://www.blogger.com/profile/02917134569541227738noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6861576014703879476.post-85464328045215572092020-05-24T01:57:00.001-07:002020-05-24T01:57:03.899-07:00Rainbow Writing Lesson Plan for Kindergarten Kindergartners have a lot of new skills to learn and practice.ââ¬â¹Ã¢â¬â¹Ã Writing the alphabet and spelling words are two of the top tasks that require creativity and repetition in order for students to master. Thats where Rainbow Writing comes in. Its a fun, easy, and low-prep activity that can be done in class or assigned as homework. Heres how it works as well as how it can help your emergent writers. How Rainbow Writing Works First, you need to choose about 10-15 high-frequency sight words that are already familiar to your students.Next, make a handout on simple handwriting paper. Write each of your chosen words on the paper, one word per line. Write the letters as neatly and large as possible. Make copies of this handout.Alternatively, for older students who can already write and copy words: Write the list on your whiteboard and have the students write the words down (one per line) onto handwriting paper. To complete the Rainbow Words assignment, each student needs a piece of writing paper and 3-5 crayons (each of a different color). The student then writes over the original word in each of the crayon colors. Its similar to tracing but adds a colorful visual twist. For assessment, look for your students to mimic the original neat handwriting as closely as possible. Variations of Rainbow Writing There are a few variations of this activity. The one listed above is the most basic variation that is great for introducing words. A second variation (once students get used to tracing over a word with crayons), is for students to take a die and roll it to see how many colors they need to trace over the listed word. For example, if a child was to roll a five on the die, that would mean that they would have to choose five different colors to write over each word listed on their paper (ex. the word is and the child could use a blue, red, yellow, orange, and purple crayon to trace over the word). Another variation of the Rainbow Writing activity is for a student to choose three color crayons and write next to the listed word three times with three different colored crayons (there is no tracing in this method). This is a little bit more complex and is usually for students who have experience writing or are in an older grade. How Can it Help Emergent Writers? Rainbow Writing helps emergent writers because they are continually forming letters over and over again. Not only does it help them learn how to write but it also helps them learn how to spell the word correctly. If you have any students who are visual-spatial, kinesthetic or tactile learners then this activity is perfect for them. lorrainekelly146http://www.blogger.com/profile/02917134569541227738noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6861576014703879476.post-64695762389628697382020-05-13T02:34:00.001-07:002020-05-13T02:34:06.082-07:00Qurââ¬â¢anàNurcholishàMadjid - Free Essay Example Sample details Pages: 9 Words: 2569 Downloads: 2 Date added: 2019/10/10 Category Religion Essay Tags: Islam Essay Did you like this example? Qurââ¬â¢anà Nurcholishà Madjid (1939-2005), also widely known as Cak Nur, was a great neo-modernist Muslim thinker from Jakarta, Indonesia who introduced a new way of interpreting Islam through culture and influenced Indonesiaââ¬â¢s development through desacralization and a religious-based, nationalized civil society. Madjid changed the vision of Islam for Indonesia with his famous slogan, ââ¬Å"Islam Yes, Partai Islam, No,â⬠a bold idea that dismissed the need for an ââ¬ËIslamic stateââ¬â¢ and called for more recognition of the ââ¬Ëspiritââ¬â¢ of Islam. He strongly advocated for the ââ¬Ëcardinal principlesââ¬â¢ of Pancasila, the Indonesian constitution, in which he emphasized the idea of civil society found in the Qurââ¬â¢an. Donââ¬â¢t waste time! Our writers will create an original "Qurââ¬â¢anà Nurcholishà Madjid" essay for you Create order One of Islamââ¬â¢s most well known theologians, Madjid founded Paramadina in 1986, the non-profit foundation, which today owns Paramadina University in Jakarta. In his quest for liberal Islam, the Paramadina organization was arguably his ultimate achievement in promoting secularization and democracy in Indonesia. Though Madjid did not focus on Qurââ¬â¢anic exegesis, his interpretations of the Qurââ¬â¢an socialized a neo-modernist approach, as he carefully looked at religious texts and reinterpreted them, developing an ââ¬Å"inclusivistâ⬠understanding of Islam. The Paramadina Foundationââ¬â¢s manifested Qurââ¬â¢anic notion of civil society fostered a liberal Islam in Indonesia, but also reinforced challenges for Pancasila and national unity. Madjid used the word madina as a core theme of his speeches and his writings as a scholar and political activist. The etymology and cultural significance of the name Paramadina is quite fascinating. For instance, most of us know that Medina (or Al-Madinah), ââ¬Å"the Radiant City,â⬠is the holy city of Islam in Saudi Arabia. Medina was also the ideal Islamic city-state. As a result, many people interpreted the name Paramadina as ââ¬Å"for the city,â⬠para meaning ââ¬Å"forâ⬠and Madina, ââ¬Å"cityâ⬠. Others believed that the foundation actually meant ââ¬Å"our prime religion,â⬠interpreting Parama as ââ¬Å"primeâ⬠and dina, ââ¬Å"our religionâ⬠. Madjid eventually accepted the name as ââ¬Å"our prime religionâ⬠though it is not certain as to why. Even more interesting, the word madina can be found in the Indonesian phrase masyarakat madani, which translates to ââ¬Å"civil society,â⬠the ultimate focus of the Paramadina foundation. Masyarakat madani has now entered the Malay-Indonesian lexicon and is used by scholars, and government officials since the time of Soeharto (1990s). Habibie, ICMIââ¬â¢s first president, used the term extensively. The commissioned book Transformasi Bangsa menuju Masyarakat Madani (Nation Transformation towards Masyarakat Madani 1999) was authored by ICMI members and Nurcholish Madjid (319 Bakti). Islamic scholars of the Ciputat school of thought, who published numerous works on civil society, further popularized Masyarakat madani. Little do many of us know that the phrase ââ¬Å"liberal Islamâ⬠was coined at Paramadina itself. Paramadina activists were also influenced by masyarakat madani and were considered members of the alternative name, ââ¬Å"the Liberal Islam Movement.â⬠The Paramadina Foundation is a highly cultural and religious landmark for Indonesiaââ¬â¢s struggle of Islam as most of its founders were members of the ââ¬Å"1966 Generationâ⬠who were actively politically opposed against Soekarno (1945-1967), the first president of Indonesia. Following Soekarno, President Suharto seized power in Indonesia as dictator and recruited many technocrats, who later became part of the 1966 Generation and Paramadina. These technocrats became intellectual activists within the liberal Muslim community with the agenda of restoring cultural Islam and an Islamic community (322 Taji-Farouki). Madjid was extremely influential during this time: even Suharto recognized the credibility of his ideas pertaining to Indonesian identity; Sudharmono, the former vice president of Indonesia, claims to have studied Islam at Paramadina. Though his ideas regarding Pancasila were controversial, the Indonesian government and civil society generally accepted Madjid. He was also part of the 1998 Reformasi era and fought for long-overdue social, cultural, and political reform during Suhartos control. It was in the post-Suharto aftermath that Madjid increasingly advocated for the core characteristics of Paramadina: inclusivism, pluralism, tolerance, and dem ocracy (322 Taji-Farouki). Madjid understood the influence of education in society as his education influenced him to improve it; Paramadina and Paramadina University are socio-religious and educational institutions that aim to shape individuals so that they pense sa culture, rethink their culture and definite their own culture rather than accept being dominated by it (500 Bakti). I believe Madjidââ¬â¢s philosophy for Paramadina was arguably inspired by his own educational upbringing, which was religious and liberal, local and international. Madjid completed his early education in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia. He began at Madrasah al-Wataniyyah in the 1960s, a boarding school rooted in religious Islamic learning and attended Pondok Modern Gontor, another religious school, in East Java for high school. At the State Islamic University of Syarif Hidayatulah in Jakarta, Madjid was twice elected president of the Muslim student association, Himpunan Mahasiswa Islam (HMI) in 1967 and 1969. At this time, Madjid was fluent in Arabic and deeply revered the Qurââ¬â¢an; his leadership of HMI, the largest student organization in Indonesia, attracted the attention of the Saudi Arabian government, which sponsored his hajj in March 1969. Soon after, he completed his thesis at the State Islamic University titled al-Qurââ¬â¢an: ââ¬ËArabiyyun Lughatan wa Alamiyyun Maââ¬â¢nan about the Qurââ¬â¢an and the Arabic language. A few years later, Madjid was accepted to the University of Chicago where he met Fazlur Rahman, the neo-modernist Muslim Pakistani American scholar who persuaded Madjid to pursue a PhD in Islamic Studies. In 1976 Madjid was participating in an international research seminar program on Islam and social change at the university and wanted to study Political Science. However, Rahman saw his passion for Islamic civil society and offered to mentor Madjid in Islamic Studies, pressing that the world needed more modern Islamic scholars. Madjidââ¬â¢s Qurââ¬â¢anic interpretation and perception of Islam was hugely influenced by Rahman, who shared many of young Madjidââ¬â¢s notions about Islam in civil society, fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence), and Qurââ¬â¢anic teachings. Rahman was especially concerned with the Qurââ¬â¢anic teachingsââ¬â¢ role in the achievement of social justice and the ideal civil society, which helped open Madjidââ¬â¢s eyes to the problems facing the Islamic world. Rahman also emphasized that political parties could not provide a solution. This led Madjid to ââ¬Å"look behind the legal rulings to the values enshrined in the Islamic revelationâ⬠the Qurââ¬â¢anto see if there was a way to enhance Pancasila as the cornerstone of national unity (493 Bakti). This inclusivist understanding of Islam in part earned Madjid the name of a neo-modernist. At the University of Chicago, Madjid was also introduced more to Ibn Taymiyyah thought, whose ideas were particularly important to his quest for liberal Islam. Ibn Taymiyyah was one of Islamââ¬â¢s most famous theologians; he was a member of the Pietist school founded by Ibn Hanbal, who is considered the source of Wahhabiyyah, the mid 18th century traditionalist movement for socio-moral reconstruction of society. In addition, Ibn Taymiyyah sought the return of Islam to its sources, these sources being the Qurââ¬â¢an and the Sunnah, which deeply resonated with Madjid. Madjidââ¬â¢s understanding of Ibn Taymiyyah played a part in the formation of his personal view of the inclusivity of Islam. Ibn Taymiyyahââ¬â¢s values of social justice, religious pluralism, tolerance, and democracy are all reflected in Madjidââ¬â¢s passionate embrace of Pancasila, Indonesiaââ¬â¢s constitution. Madjid wanted Indonesia to take a ââ¬Å"peaceful, consensual, and solidarity-based approachâ⬠to humanity that relied on culture (495 Bakti). This approach was promoted by the Paramadina Foundation, an institution based on paguyuban, community. The community model seen in Paramadina is seen as open, plural and universal but Madjidââ¬â¢s unbreakable attachment to the concept of Madina, the ideal city-state, is what arguably hindered him from addressing a more global, open-minded civil society (496 Bakti). His neo-modernist perspective allowed him to interpret Qurââ¬â¢anic legislation to yield new laws for the present situation (17 Muin). In the process of formulating common values for Paramadina that favored a socially just, pluralistic, democratic civil society, he still failed when it came to addressing the prevalent issues of gender equality and discrimination against ethnic Chinese in Indonesia. Though Madjid did not produce any tafsir during his lifetime, through the guidance of Rahman he developed his own opinions about the ways Qurââ¬â¢anic teachings could achieve social justice and civil society in modern Indonesia; his concept of the ââ¬Ëspiritââ¬â¢ of Islam hinted at a more metaphorical understanding of the Qurââ¬â¢an. In addition, he theorized about the authority of traditional ideas such as fiqh. Like Rahman, Madjid propagated the ââ¬Å"heuristic device of contextualityâ⬠in his Qurââ¬â¢anic interpretation, specifically in terms of the way in which fiqh was meant to be practiced in civil society. One major example of this is how the Qurââ¬â¢an declares what will happen to an individual who turns aside from his Islam. Another example shows how the Qurââ¬â¢an declares that a human being is free to accept or reject belief in God and His Prophet: One who seeks other than Islam as a religion, it will not be accepted from him, and in the hereafter he will be among the losers [Q. 3:85]. Whoever believes, let him believe, and whoever rejects belief, let him reject it. We have prepared for those who do evil a fire that envelops them [Q. 18:29] (84 Taji-Farouki). Much of his focus involved pinpointing the authority of fiqh of previous centuries mentioned in the Qurââ¬â¢an and discovering how that authority could be applied to modern times in Indonesia (77 Taji-Farouki). This is arguably how Madjid used the Qurââ¬â¢an and hadith to find pragmatic and appropriate responses to the challenges facing Indonesiaââ¬â¢s Muslim community. Perhaps Pancasila, Indonesiaââ¬â¢s constitution could solve these challenges. In old Javanese, Pancasila derives from two Sanskrit words: panca, ââ¬Å"five,â⬠and sila, ââ¬Å"principles.â⬠It is thus composed of five inseparable principles that reflected Madjidââ¬â¢s ideas: the belief in only one god, civilized humanity, a unified Indonesia, democracy, and social justice for everyone. Pancasila is many thingsa constitutional law, a philosophy, and a socio-religious society. During Madjidââ¬â¢s time, Indonesia was, and still is, an extremely multicultural, multi-religious nation; the ideology behind Pancasila was that it would shelter and protect everyone under the umbrella of pluralism. Besides Islam, Pancasila recognizes seven official religions, including Catholic and Protestant Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism and Confucianism. Pancasila is a model for peace, but it has its shortcomings: only these Abrahamic religions, among a few others, are recognized and given legal status by Indonesia government, while Indonesia has over two hundred an d forty-five different minority religions. This begs the question: how is Pancasila inclusive or pluralistic? How could Pancasila be the ââ¬Å"cornerstone of national unityâ⬠when it left out others? There appears to be some gaps in Pancasila. In Madjidââ¬â¢s eyes, masarakat madani, civil society, must depend on social justice by more importantly it must depend on one and only one god binding all citizens. In this sense Islam had to be and ethical and driving force in Indonesia. Pancasila is also resonant of the Qurââ¬â¢anic idea, in Madjidââ¬â¢s opinion, that the Qurââ¬â¢an does not address atheism since all humans believe in ââ¬Å"something powerful within themselvesâ⬠(495 Bakti). Again, masarakat madani is a model meant to be contextualized in a religious-based society, religion being the driving force behind the development of Indonesia, but a desacralized force. This is also the basic insight of the Paramadina Foundation, which embraced this neo-modernist approach. Madjid is so passionate about promoting inclusivism, integralism and the respect for human rights that he gave his own definition of ââ¬Å"Islamâ⬠as belonging to any religion; he insisted that anyone belonging to the People of the Book could be considered Muslim because they were recognized by the Qurââ¬â¢an. This was the supposed ââ¬Ëspiritââ¬â¢ of Islam. His embrace of the Islamic notion of fitrahââ¬âthe intuitive ability to discern between right and wrong, good and badshowed his broad and simple interpretation of what Islam was and who it affected. Through fitrah, which was almost synonymous with al-Islam, almost anyone could acquire peace and salvation in Islam. Consumed by how Islam played a role in a civil society, in a religiously plural society, it was still difficult or Madjid and by extension Paramadina to see its position vis-à -vis other religions . Idealizing Islam presents challenges in itself. The Algerian Muslim scholar, Mohammed Arkoun (1928-2010), sought the build a tolerant and ethicist future like Madjid, and called for the ââ¬Å"dignity of manâ⬠and ââ¬Å"spiritual responsibilityâ⬠. A post-modernist scholar, his work was based on the Qurââ¬â¢an, the Bible and the Torah. He was a proponent of the emancipation of the so-called ââ¬Å"human spirit.â⬠Unlike Madjid, however, who wanted people to realize the ââ¬Ëspiritââ¬â¢ of Islam, Arkoun wanted people to liberate themselves from ââ¬Å"any orthodoxy whatsoever,â⬠be it religious, ideological or philosophic. It was this type of person who would arguably be pluralist, ââ¬Å"epistemologically able to see what goes on in building a particular tradition, philosophy, or worldviewâ⬠(Hashas). For the human spirit, assuming a spiritual responsibility means providing oneself with all the means, and at all times the necessary conditions, for resisting all activities (once they have been duly identified) that aim to alienate it (the spirit), enslave it, mutilate it or mislead one or several of its faculties in an attempt to achieve an end contrary to what makes it the seat, the agent and the irreducible sign of the eminent dignity of the human person [16]. Arkoun believed that these intertwined concepts would help open up possibilities for ââ¬Å"the emancipation of the human conditionâ⬠(Hashas). ââ¬Å"From Arkounââ¬â¢s historiographical perspective, Islam has this potential of rehabilitating the debate on the dignity of man and human emancipationâ⬠¦ ââ¬ËThere exists a liberal, critical Islam open to change, an Islam still little known and rarely taken into considerationââ¬â¢Ã¢â¬ [19] (Hashas). For both Arkoun and Madjid, the Qurââ¬â¢an was arguably perfectly compatible with modernity, since modernity was equivalent with rationality, and rationality was integral to Islam (79 Taji-Farouki). Both scholars were consumed by ideas of rationality within the Qurââ¬â¢an. Reason could be found in the Qurââ¬â¢an but it was their challenge to recover ââ¬Å"rational dimensionâ⬠of Islam. Madjid did not have a traditional understanding of the Qurââ¬â¢anic revelation. Influenced by theologian Ibn Taymiyyah and his mentor Fazlur Rahman, Madjid adopted a ââ¬Å"heuristic approach of contextualityâ⬠in his own Qurââ¬â¢anic interpretation. As a neo-modernist leader, Madjid called for a liberal Islam and the desacralization of Islamic parties. He expanded his ideas under the Ciputat School of thought, founding the groundbreaking Paramadina Foundation, where the concepts of city, religion, and social justice were interdependent. Inspired by the Indonesian constitution of Pancasila, Madjid promoted the same ideas of pluralism, democracy, and social justice in Paramadina, though the application of such ideas was flawed. The Qurââ¬â¢anic notion of civil society, known in Indonesia as masarakat madani, helped to foster a liberal Islam but at the same time created obstacles for Indonesiaââ¬â¢s national unity due to the fact that it depended on a religious-based s ociety where one god united all citizens. Answer: Introducation The question whether nursing homes are suitable for the elderly people is a contentious issue that has been a major focus by health workers and family members. A nursing home is a residential based care that offers nursing care to the elderly who do not necessarily require hospitalization but are in need of medical care and assistance. Nursing homes provide long-stay care for the elderly persons (Morley et al. 2014: 309). For this reason, the demand and dependency of care homes/nursing homes continue increasing steadily due to the increase in the population in need. Despite this fact, a majority of people argue that nursing homes are the best places for the aged persons while others maintain that the place in unsuitable, unfavorable and inefficient in meeting the health care needs of the elderly. In this case, therefore, this paper seeks to illuminate the reasons why nursing homes are the best place for the elderly. There has been significance dependency in the nursing care homes in the recent decades. Consequently, nursing care homes experience population pressure a factor that is largely contributed by earlier discharge from health care facilities (Rolland et al.2014:308). The nursing care home is a suitable alternative that has helped in accommodating the growing number of frail people. It has thus helped families ease the burden of caring for their old relatives and instead offer services that these people may not receive in their residents (Katz, 2011: 488). Some factors have also led to the increased desire for nursing home admission (Spector et al.2013: 675-677). Firstly, approximately, two-third of the persons admitted to the hospital are 65 and above thus the frequent admission from hospital to nursing care homes. Secondly, there is the decrease in the number of the older people seeking inpatient services. Moreover, there is the issue of early discharge and consequent admission the nursing care home. Thirdly is the inappropriate use of hospital by this category of people d ue to bed-locking thus the need for enrollment in care homes. Older people admission to hospitals is associated with patient's exacerbation of stress, illness, and anxiety. Therefore, nursing care homes play a major role in preventing hospitalization. Mainly, nursing care homes reduce the rate of hospital readmission for the elderly. While the above point underpins the importance of older people admission to nursing homes, there is also substantial evidence that services offered in the two different environments vary considerably (Katz, 2011: 490). In this case, the location of a nursing home is central in determining whether the patients access quality health care or not (Turrel, 2001: 27). For instance, as opposed to nursing homes, hospitals enjoy a lot of skills from clinical nurse specialists, specialist nurse practitioners, and link nurses. Additionally, there are also the development nurses that play the role of informing nursing practice (Cherry and Jacob, 2016:367). However, these skills may be inaccessible to nursing homes especially when the homes are located in very remote areas. According to Turrel (2001:25), nursing homes provide better physical environment compared to the geriatric hospital wards. The former favorably cater for the patient's personal choices. Nevertheless, the aspect of the physical environment for both aspects may differ from one state to the other. For instance, the Royal Commission of United Kingdom noted that although the nursing care homes facilities and amenities did not meet the national standard, there was a notable improvement in the same (Turrel, 2001:25). Therefore, Turrel (2001:26) identifies the markers of quality nursing home care that include and not limited to; access to rehabilitation therapists and facilities, access to nursing care, access medical care, documentation and assessment of a patient, and prescription practice. On the contrary, older people that reside in nursing care homes suffer from numerous conditions that may be poorly managed. Conditions such as dementia, incontinence, diabetes, and other cognitive impairments require particular expertise for effective management (Morley et al. 2014: 309). Despite the notion that the availability of such specialists in nursing care homes could prevent hospitalization by a larger percentage, the number is inadequate (Graverholt, Forsetlund, and Jamtvedt, 2014:36). In other words, the specialists are not always available in such environments. Additionally, as earlier mentioned, nursing care homes continue to encounter large numbers elderly admissions. However, the number of the patients versus the health care givers does not match thereby leading to poor quality of health care (Tolson et al. 2011:186). There is, therefore, the need to ensure that there is proper staffing if there is the need to improve the condition of the health care homes. The major p roblem that encompasses the issue of skills is that the nursing home based nurses provide a 24-hour on-site nursing care. However, the number of nurses employed in such facilities is determined by the registering authority when the home is empty and depends on the number of beds (Grabowski et al.2014: 39). In this case, therefore, it is difficult to enroll more nurses even as the level of dependency in the nursing care homes increases. The rationale is that there is the problem of enforcing the changes that may facilitate the increase of the number of the trained nursing staff. In conclusion, nursing care homes are better alternatives for the elderly. However, one cannot dismiss the fact that there is the need to enhance the conditions of the homes' facilities and amenities to ensure that the services are effective. Similarly, there is the need to ensure that the environment is equipped with specialized nursing skills to cater for diverse health, psychological, physical and other needs of the patients. Additionally, the improvement of services and staffs in the nursing care homes is a critical approach that seeks to balance the pressure of the increased homes' admissions. Essentially, nursing care homes significantly reduce the rate of elderly admission and readmissions in hospitals. The outcome can be considered to be positive in that the elderly patients are entitled to some freedom (that includes movement and unlimited association with family members, relatives and friends). Hence, this helps reduce such factors as depression, anxiety, stress or loneline ss that in most cases lead to health deterioration. It is thus evident that nursing homes are the most suitable places for the older people so long as proper improvements in the facilities are implemented. Both of these plants contain scenes in which chief characters die ; their deceases come about because of their iniquitous nature or the iniquitous nature of others around them. Manââ¬â¢s iniquitous nature is revealed through the ideas and actions of the characters of these plants. The writers show through their plants their belief that if everybody revealed their true natures. the universe would rupture itself apart. In both plants. immorality is revealed by the revealing actions of the characters. In Lord of the Flies. the boysââ¬â¢ society starts to fall apart as Jack becomes less and less civilised and the other male childs bit by bit follow his illustration. Merely Simon is the genuinely guiltless one ; even Ralph and Piggy expose their evil nature when they help the other male childs kill Simon. Besides the slayings of Simon and Piggy. immorality is besides demonstrated through the scenes when the hog is killed. Piggyââ¬â¢s spectacless are stolen. and the conch shell is smashed. In Macbeth. manââ¬â¢s iniquitous nature is seen rather early in the narrative when Lady Macbeth urges her hubby to kill the male monarch after he is told a prognostication that he will go male monarch. Though Macbeth is loath at foremost. so horrified at the slaying he has committed. his pride and greed get the better of him. He starts killing more people. including adult females and kids. and even efforts t o kill his good friend Banquo. Though Macbeth started out good. his evil nature conquered in the terminal. In Macbeth. Macbeth dies by the manus of his enemy. and his married woman dies by her ain manus. In Lord of the Flies. the male childs are rescued merely as Ralph is about to be killed. However. in both books the wickedness job is neer controlled. Shakespeare neer suggests in his work that Malcolm will go corrupt or that person else will prehend the throne. However. it is in the nature of adult male to be corrupt. and finally something like Macbethââ¬â¢s trespass of the throne would go on once more. On the other manus. Golding lays heavy accent on the suggestion that all work forces are iniquitous. non merely male childs marooned on an island. He shows this by adding the naval officer and his ship into the narrative. The Bible has much to state about manââ¬â¢s iniquitous nature. In Romans 3:23. it states: ââ¬Å"For all have sinned and fall short of the glorification of God. â⬠Luke 18:13 says this: ââ¬Å"â⬠¦Ã¢â¬â¢God. have mercy on me. a evildoer. â⬠Everybody has a iniquitous nature ; our Black Marias are corrupted and full of greed. Macbeth and Lord of the Flies show how improbably far off our wickednesss can take us from Godââ¬â¢s love and grace. As the Luke transition proves. nevertheless. God will ever hold clemency on us. no affair how far we have strayed from him. Macbeth. unluckily. neer changed- he stayed wicked until the terminal. On the other manus. Ralph and the other boys most likely did alter their evil ways when they went back to civilisation. If we neer return to God and garbage to hold anything to make with him. like Macbeth. he will hold no pick but to penalize us. However. if we turn from our iniquitous ways like Ralph. God will welcome us back with unfa stened weaponries. Both Macbeth and Lord of the Flies speak volumes about the job of manââ¬â¢s iniquitous nature. Though they seem like guiltless narratives at first. the reader bit by bit realizes that the writers are. in fact. talking about the full human population. Both writers are doing a individual point: All worlds have a iniquitous nature. and if it were given free rein. world would destruct itself. lorrainekelly146http://www.blogger.com/profile/02917134569541227738noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6861576014703879476.post-61288971687736200672020-03-07T00:46:00.001-08:002020-03-07T00:46:03.379-08:00Anatomical Directional Terms and Body PlanesAnatomical Directional Terms and Body Planes Anatomical directional terms are like the directions on a compass rose of a map. Like the directions, North, South, East and West, they can be used to describe the locations of structures in relation to other structures or locations in the body. This is particularly useful when studying anatomy as it provides a common method of communication that helps to avoid confusion when identifying structures. Also as with a compass rose, each directional term often has a counterpart with converse or opposite meaning. These terms are very useful when describing the locations of structures to be studied in dissections. Anatomical directional terms can also be applied to the planes of the body. Body planes are used to describe specific sections or regions of the body. Below are examples of some commonly used anatomical directional terms and planes of the body. Anatomical Directional Terms Anterior: In front of, frontPosterior: After, behind, following, toward the rearDistal: Away from, farther from the originProximal: Near, closer to the originDorsal: Near the upper surface, toward the backVentral: Toward the bottom, toward the bellySuperior: Above, overInferior: Below, underLateral: Toward the side, away from the mid-lineMedial: Toward the mid-line, middle, away from the sideRostral: Toward the frontCaudal: Toward the back, toward the tailBilateral: Involving both sides of the bodyUnilateral: Involving one side of the bodyIpsilateral: On the same side of the bodyContralateral: On opposite sides of the bodyParietal: Relating to a body cavity wallVisceral: Relating to organs within body cavitiesAxial: Around a central axisIntermediate: Between two structures Anatomical Body Planes Imagine a person standing in an upright position. Now imagine dissecting this person with imaginary vertical and horizontal planes. This is the best way to describe anatomical planes. Anatomical planes can be used to describe any body part or an entire body. (View a detailed body plane image.) Lateral Plane or Sagittal Plane: Imagine a vertical plane that runs through your body from front to back or back to front. This plane divides the body into right and left regions. Median or Midsagittal Plane: Sagittal plane that divides the body into equal right and left regions.Parasagittal Plane: Sagittal plane that divides the body into unequal right and left regions. Frontal Plane or Coronal Plane: Imagine a vertical plane that runs through the center of your body from side to side. This plane divides the body into front (anterior) and back (posterior) regions. Transverse Plane: Imagine a horizontal plane that runs through the midsection of your body. This plane divides the body into upper (superior) and lower (inferior) regions. Anatomical Terms: Examples Some anatomical structures contain anatomical terms in their names that help identify their position in relation to other body structures or divisions within the same structure. Some examples include the anterior and posterior pituitary, superior and inferior venae cavae, the median cerebral artery, and the axial skeleton. Affixes (word parts that are attached to base words) are also useful in describing the position of anatomical structures. These prefixes and suffixes give us hints about the locations of body structures. For example, the prefix (para-) means near or within. The parathyroid glands are located on the posterior side of the thyroid. The prefix epi- means upper or outermost. The epidermis is the outermost skin layer. The prefix (ad-) means near, next to, or toward. The adrenal glands are located atop the kidneys. Anatomical Terms: Resources Understanding anatomical directional terms and body planes will make it easier to study anatomy. It will help you to be able to visualize positional and spatial locations of structures and navigate directionally from one area to another. Another strategy that can be employed to help you visualize anatomical structures and their positions is to use study aids such as anatomy coloring books and flashcards. It may seem a bit juvenile, but coloring books and review cards actually help you to visually comprehend the information. lorrainekelly146http://www.blogger.com/profile/02917134569541227738noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6861576014703879476.post-84410247655282364012020-02-19T16:10:00.001-08:002020-02-19T16:10:03.054-08:00How might Archbishop Romero analyze (comment on) the following passage EssayHow might Archbishop Romero analyze (comment on) the following passage from Gaudium et Spes - Essay Example In his view the Church was not the name of the buildings or of the hierarchical structure of clergymen but was the name of the collective of Catholic people, most of who were poor and oppressed (Brockman). The ââ¬ËGaudium et Spesââ¬â¢ (Joy and Hope) apostolic constitution adopted at the Second Vatican Council in 1965 proclaims a similar view of the Church. In this document, the laity are urged to learn what their faith demands from them in the course of their secular duties. They are told that the role of the clergy in this respect is that of a teacher. The clergy will advise them on what God may want them to do, however they should cultivate their own conscience and religious sensibility and not expect explicit guidance from the clergy on every issue (Second Vatican Council). This passage has many parallels with the work of Archbishop Romero. The ââ¬ËGaudium et Spesââ¬â¢ calls for a sort of spiritual and intellectual emancipation of the laity who are to educate themselves in their religion with the help of the clergy and in many matters where the explicit guidance of the Church is not available, they are to use the wisdom of the clergy to determine for themselves what God wants from them. In this view of the Catholic clergy, the clergymen are not the autocratic leaders of the laity but their guides and spiritual advisors. Archbishop Romero too held that the Catholic clergy should not be the leaders or rulers of the people but their advisors and guides. He called for a physical emancipation of the laity from the forces of exploitation and oppression in addition to their spiritual and intellectual liberation. Another aspect of congruence between the teachings and actions of Archbishop Romero and that of the ââ¬ËGaudium et Spesââ¬â¢ is in proclaiming the role of the Catholic Christianity in the secular sphere of existence for a Catholic lay person. lorrainekelly146http://www.blogger.com/profile/02917134569541227738noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6861576014703879476.post-80163630968068788562020-02-04T10:25:00.001-08:002020-02-04T10:25:03.306-08:00Research paper Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 5000 wordsResearch paper - Essay Example The value and importance of IT field in any economy is also brought forward in this paper. The UAE, United Arabs Emirates, lies on the South-eastern side of Arabian Gulf. It occupies eighty three thousand six hundred square kilometers in the East of Arabian Peninsula. Some of the countries it shares boarders with include Qatar (north-western side), Saudi Arabia (Western and Southern sides) and Oman (Eastern and North-Eastern sides). The United Arabs Emirates, which is a federation of 7 emirates which were known as Trucial States, was established in 1971. The name ââ¬Å"Trucial Statesâ⬠traces its roots from a perpetual Treaty of Maritime Truce signed by their rulers and the British In the eighteen fifties with its main aim being to keep and maintain peace at the sea especially during the pearling season. There was some uniqueness with the treaties they signed in that the British undertook their foreign affairs responsibilities and external defense while agreeing not to intervene in their internal affairs. There were some disputes and differences between the rulers o f the emirates. In 1971 British terminated the treaty having not treated the Trucial States like its other colonies and aiding nothing to the economic development of the country. UAE was therefore as a result of the rulers of the emirates realizing they could accomplish more united rather than divided hence they formed a federal state. Thirty years ago, there were very few tarmac roads. High rising buildings were virtually unknown. The larger part of the country was under developed. In the education sector, those living in major town were the only one accessing education. Limited Church: Unlimited Kingdom. Nashville: Randall House, 2013. 336 pp. $22.99 Biographical Sketch of the Author Dr. Rienow is a husband, father and the pastor at Gospel Fellowship Church. He holds multiple degrees in theology and Christian leadership that prepared him to pastor a church. After spending time in the pastorate Dr. Rienow came to the realization that he was discipling the members of his congregation but not the members of his family. This caused Dr. Rienow to reevaluate how the church is called to do ministry in the Bible. His findings lead to changes in his own ministry as well as the writing of this book.Ãâà Pursuing the Great Commission through Biblical family discipleship is now a passion for Dr. Rienow. Summary of Contents Dr. Rob Rienows purpose in writing this book is to challenge your current philosophy of ministry. When planning each aspect of the program is the first reaction to reach for a curriculum, someones advice or tradition? Rienow issues the claim that the Bible is enough to guide leaders of the church in equipping the saints to carry out the Great Commission. Do not expect to sit down and read this book in an afternoon; this book will cause the reader to read and reread sections then stop and rethink each statement that is made. It is highly recommended that this book is not read alone, but instead with a ministry team. Limited Church: Unlimited Kingdom should challenge any team that reads it together in how they do ministry and what their standards are for that ministry. Critical Evaluation Dr. Rienow does an excellent job of challenging the reader to rethink how he does church. This goes much deeper than just the traditions that we have accepted to date and into the place where the Word of God has in our heart and lives. Page by page Rienow builds a case for the sufficiency of scripture in the church and our families even in his own ministry he admitted, The Bible was enough for me when it came to my systematic theology, but not enough when it came to how Gods institutions of the family and the local church should function (13) This is a profound idea which will probably cause anyone reading the book to double check their process when making ministry decisions. The author fully grasps the concept that our first church is our family and we need to ensure their discipleship first and foremost. Rienow states, God created two institutions to build His Kingdom and advance His Gospel, the local church and the family. (39) Why would God allow us to take care of His bride, the church, if we cannot take care of our own family?Ãâà This flows perfectly into the argument regarding Biblical jurisdiction. Parents seem to have relegated the responsibility of discipleship to the church and instead of training the parents that this is not correct they have just accepted the role. As Dr. Rienow shows, this presents a problem when the churchs method differ from the parents methods and therefore creates conflict inside the body. We see the Great Commission, and we accept it. Then we carelessly ignore the clear messages God has given us about how the mission is to be carried out and who is responsible for its different faces. (61) Parents want to rely on the church or the school to educate their children about life when the Bible definitively places that responsibility on the parents. Rienow skillfully presents the picture of a Limited Church operating only inside the direction given by God and leaving the rest of the responsibilities to other jurisdictions. The church is challenged to rethink its priorities when Rienow asks, Can we honestly say that our jam-packed church calendar and our dynamic programs for every demographic group are making radical disciples for Jesus Christ? (1) The number of quality of the disciples a church makes is not directly proportional to the number of events on its calendar but according to the author, Nothing is more important in the local church than the preaching of the Bible. (103) The job of the church is given in Ephesians 4:11-13 of training and equipping the saints for ministry. This is done through the preaching of the Bible so that each facet may learn how to do their specific job well. A full third of the book is devoted to the concept of uniting the church and family in ministry. The ideas of caring for the poor, transforming specific ministries, building marriages, discipleship and evangelism are discussed thoroughly. Although family ministry is the new buzz word in churches, Dr. Rienow points out that it has been Gods plan from the beginning. He works from the Old Testament to the New Testament explaining the perfect design God has for families. That perfect design is family discipleship in the home, from the parents. Dr. Rienow exposes the fallacies in the current ministry model of age segregated groups and how it breeds an attitude of moral therapeutic deism that is running rampant through our culture today. Children move from fun childrens ministry to fun youth ministry to fun college ministry into boring church service and do not know how to assimilate into the church body. Dr. Rienow brings up the idea of incorporating children into the corporate body of worship and proposes that the church has been doing it wrong for about a hundred years. Readers are then shown multiple scripture passages showing children commanded to worship with their parents as a part of the faith family. Those who would choose to rebuff this idea are met with the statement, Before we think pragmatically, we need to think theologically. Practice does not drive theology. Theology drives practice. Rienow once again brings back each argument to the authority of scripture and scripture alone to drive our decisions. Using this same logic the reader should be able to determine that youth should also be in corporate worship along with young adults. Critical Evaluation Rienows mission to challenge the way churches address ministry questions with scripture first and only is accomplished throughout the entire book. While not directly stated the book screams out 2 Timothy 3:16 that scripture is sufficient for all our needs and answers. The author challenges readers that, Now is the time to return to the Bible alone for every matter of faith and practice! (45) Grab multiple copies of this book, pass them out to the ministry teams in your church, read through them together and evaluate the way you do ministry against scripture. Where it lines up witch scripture, press on; where it falls short, bring it in line with the Word and see if the fruits of your labor do not increase from Gods blessings. Bibliography Rienow, Rob. Fast Moving consumer goods or consumer packaged goods are products that are sold quickly at relatively low cost. Though the absolute profit made on FMCG products is relatively small, they are generally sold in large quantities, and so the cumulative profit on such products can be substantial. Salesmen play a critical role in any FMCG industry; and for that matter in any industry, a salesmanââ¬â¢s role is critical. The efficiency of the product is useless if the salesmen are inefficient. This calls for energetic salesmen whoare efficient. The average qualification of salesmen are limited to schooling. Most of the salesmen are school dropouts. Unlike the well qualified, with these salesmen the demand for ambiance, infrastructure and a conducive work environment are the least preferred. Monetary benefits are the driving force. The monetary benefits include salary, allowance and incentive. Out of these, only incentive is the most critical and variable factor. The incentive being linked to the salesmenââ¬â¢s performance and the attractive incentive provided by these FMCG giants, is the only reason why most men still stick on to a salesmanââ¬â¢s job. The salesmen put in their heart and soul to achieve their targets and thereby get more incentive. At a point, the companies identified that the salesmen are being manipulated either by their company executives or the distributors. To overcome this, to get closer to the salesmen and to give him a sense of belongingness with the company, FMCG companies started making the incentive structure transparent. And to keep track of the salesmenââ¬â¢s performance, the incentives were linked to parameters that help both the salesmen to work efficiently and the company to progress. Various companies use different incentive parameters. These parameters have evolved into a more structured approach. Though the names of the parameters and their weight-age differs, they more or less have the same meaning. Working with a few leading FMCG companies, the following incentive parameters for salesmen are the most commonly practiced. Incentive Parameters 1. Perfect Store All the product lines are highlighted in the palmtop against the particular store have to be placed in the store for it to become a perfect store. 2. Perfect Day When all the stores visited in a day are made perfect, the day becomes a perfect day. The perfect store and perfect day parameters are based on the AC Nielsen survey data. Companies have a tie up with a consulting firm to provide them with data about the stores with regard to their company products 3. Lines Product lines are given as targets depending on the monthââ¬â¢s focus product and launch product 4. Must Stock List Must stock list or the MSL compliance is where the salesmen are instructed to compulsorily stock a particular product line at particular stores or all the stores depending on the requirement. As discussed above, the focus products may or may not accompany the ECO parameter. More than one product can be given as a Focus 6. Effective Coverage Effective coverage ensures both the effective outlet coverage and the effective product line coverage. The effective coverage or ECO parameter may or may not contain a focus product/s depending on the monthââ¬â¢s objective 7. Distributor Retail Coverage Plan (DRCP) The DRCP or simply the salesmen beat traveled everyday is a parameter that provides for expanding the number of retail outlets. Through this specific parameter the company ensures the addition of new outlets and the retention of the older outlets 8. Value Value targets are fixed based on the value of the month in the previous year plus 25% percent growth 9. Lines Product lines are given as targets depending on the monthââ¬â¢s focus product and launch product Apart from these, the companies lay more empahsis on communicating these parameters to the salesmen. Gone were the days where salesmen carried notebooks and pen; as the saying goes, ââ¬Å"you become obsolete f you are not updatedâ⬠, the companies have sought to palmtops and smart phones / android phones for taking orders, scheme communications and other related functions. With many companies entering into the market everyday, FMCG industry is becoming a very competitive environment. And with the products having a very limited shelf life, the products have to be sold at the earliest. For sales, it is mandatory for the product to be placed in the o utlet. This job falls on the salesmen. And incentives are the key element driving the salesmen. Hence, the companies must constantly evolve new incentive schemes. lorrainekelly146http://www.blogger.com/profile/02917134569541227738noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6861576014703879476.post-45388839877697041342020-01-10T23:36:00.001-08:002020-01-10T23:36:04.489-08:00Marketing of Packaged Drinking WaterWater is the fountain of all life. Even a toddler knows that it is a commodity with utmost Importance. Nearly 60% of our body weight comprises of water. Water can also be the cause to a great deal of misery specially in India where contaminated water continues to bring down millions with diseases like diarrhea, dysentery, haploid, jaundice and Castro-enteritis.Getting pure drinking water in cities and towns has now become a luxury. At most homes people are forced to either boil water to make it appropriate for drinking or they have to install water purifiers. While traveling or eating at restaurants buying packaged drinking water has become a necessity. This need has seen an explosion of companies marketing ââ¬Å"safe drinking water in bottles across the country. India Is the tenth largest bottled water consumer In the world. The present scenario how's that it is one of the fastest growing industrial sectors. There are nearly 200 brands, of which are local. Most of the small scale pr oducers sell non-branded products and serve small markets. Despite the large number of small sellers, the Industry is dominated by big players like Boilers, Aquifer, Ms Dowels, Pearl Valley and soon. There are two working units of the factory. One at Disarm and the other is at Karl. The unit at Dahlias Is the larger of the two units. It has a huge processing and manufacturing plant. The one at Karl also does the same work of manufacturing and recessing but Is relatively smaller. For the purpose of accounting, both these units are considered as one factory but they both have individual licenses. The factory is one that produces packaged drinking water and according to the Bureau of Indian Standards, such a factory must necessarily have a micro-biologist and a chemist. Both the plants thus have a microbiologist and a chemist who perform timely tests on sample water in order to maintain the quail chemical composition and purity of the water. lorrainekelly146http://www.blogger.com/profile/02917134569541227738noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6861576014703879476.post-92141062707353637122020-01-02T19:58:00.001-08:002020-01-02T19:58:03.178-08:00An Introduction to Performing Artslorrainekelly146http://www.blogger.com/profile/02917134569541227738noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6861576014703879476.post-12703295965457290972019-12-25T16:25:00.001-08:002019-12-25T16:25:04.406-08:00Is Anencephaly A Congenital Neurological Disorder Anencephaly is a congenital neurological disorder characterized by absence of the cerebrum and cerebellum, as well as the top of the skull, resulting in exposure of the brain stem. Even though the brain stem is exposed this does not mean that the babies brain or head is completely missing. This is considered one of the more serious birth defects that a baby can have because they baby will never have the brain power to grow and become an adult. Many of these babies are exposed to various infections and will only live up to one week even though some have lived up to one year at the most. Anencephalics are seen as a huge source of organ donation because they are not damaged like other babies such as babies who have been abused or babies that have been in car accidents. Many of these babies that need the organs of anencephalics are usually the ones who have heart defects. Parents such as Laura Campo heard about this type of donor possibility when she was pregnant at twenty four weeks and found out about her child being anencephalic there was no way for her to abort the baby because she was too far along. This resulted in Laura Campo going to the Florida District Court but since Lauraââ¬â¢s baby girl who she named Theresa, by Harvard Law was not brain dead they were not allowed to use her organs for donation. The judge Estella Moriarty was begged by the family to pronounce her brain dead so they could save another childââ¬â¢s life but instead Theresaââ¬â¢s organs began to fail. The American Revolution began in the mid 1700ââ¬â¢s and ended in the late 1700ââ¬â¢s and took place in the thirteen American colonies. It was all caused by many different wars and conflicts between the British and the American Colonists. There were many contributions to the outbreak such as, the Boston Massacre, Boston Tea Party, the French and Indian War, the Battle of Bunker Hill and many other conflictions. All of these fights and protests greatly contributed to the outbreak of the American Revolution in their own way. First, the French and Indian War took place in 1754 and continued through 1763. The French and Indian War is also known as The Seven years War and ended with The Treaty of Paris in 1763. This war was the first world war that had ever taken place. It took place mostly in Europe, but also took place in America, South America, Asia, India, etc.. One of the major ways that this war contributed to the American Revolution was because of the Stamp Act. The Stamp Act contributed because it caused major conflict between Britain and the colonists. The war was so expensive and because Britain became in debt due to the war they decided to raise revenue by taxing the colonists by stamps which would be called the Stamp Act. This caused many violent protests and even some violent rioting from the colonists. Nosferatu is an example of this, contrasting Ellens conventional and perhaps boring relationship with Hutter to Orlocks dark, sexual power over her. However, the film seems to project the message that Nosferatu stands for raw carnal desire which must be kept in check in the interest of higher spiritual values (Elsaesser, 2001). This is a similar example to that of authority sexuality is a power that can be used for evil, and therefore should be eliminated. The use of phallic symbolism within the film should also be noted towards this; Orlocks castle, for example, is topped by a phallic pointed tower, and at the end when Orlock is defeated, his castle, and the representation of his sexuality, crumbles. A characteristic that is used in many German films of the period, and was highly influential of future film genre and style, is that of chiaroscuro lighting the use of light and shadow. Kurtz (n. d), cited by Kraucauer (1947, p. 75) states that this can be traced as being influenced by expressionist theatre practitioner Max Reinhardt, in the play The Beggar (Der Bettler), where he used imaginary settings created by lighting effects. As said by Klinge Klinge (1983), early German films often used shadows as a substitute for people or objects, to create more dramatic emphasis, using the fear of the unknown to make them more obscure and menacing. This can be seen in Nosferatu multiple times, one particularly famous and influential scene being when Orlock ascends the stairs to Ellens room his dark shadow against the white wall is menacing and dramatic, obscuring much of the white wall, a colour associated with purity, which could be said when going back to the films dealing with ideas of sexuality to show the wider idea in the film of the corruption of innocence. The chiaroscuro lighting device is most commonly seen after the German Expressionist movement in the film noir genre, the films of which use the style or lighting to complement the mystery and intrigue of thriller and detective based storylines. Many of the noir films used techniques popular in German Expressionist films however, to give one example in particular, The Third Man (Reed, 1949). Set in a post-war Vienna, it bears similarity to the background for the German Expressionist movement, with a feeling of confusion and displacement in society. The use of distorted camera angles and expressionist lighting, similar to films such as The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, capture the feelings of distress felt by the characters, in turn a representation of society. In one scene, Harry Lime, played by Orson Welles, is hidden in the shadows. His character is one that is morally ambiguous, and the use of shadow to hide him is similar to that of how it is used to represent negative characters, such as Cesare in The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. Other examples of films that fall into the noir genre are Double Indemnity (Wilder, 1944) and Mildred Pierce (Curtiz, 1945), both of which use the chiaroscuro style of lighting. The noir films also link with to Expressionist cinema thematically, with the protagonists mental or moral state questioned in many of these films. As in German Expressionist films, the stories in film noir are often told from the point of view of the protagonist, a technique used in Expressionist theatre (Klinge Klinge, 1983) and emulated by the Expressionist film movement. .u79cd41f1213e370d11a713461ab55142 , .u79cd41f1213e370d11a713461ab55142 .postImageUrl , .u79cd41f1213e370d11a713461ab55142 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u79cd41f1213e370d11a713461ab55142 , .u79cd41f1213e370d11a713461ab55142:hover , .u79cd41f1213e370d11a713461ab55142:visited , .u79cd41f1213e370d11a713461ab55142:active { border:0!important; } .u79cd41f1213e370d11a713461ab55142 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u79cd41f1213e370d11a713461ab55142 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u79cd41f1213e370d11a713461ab55142:active , .u79cd41f1213e370d11a713461ab55142:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u79cd41f1213e370d11a713461ab55142 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u79cd41f1213e370d11a713461ab55142 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u79cd41f1213e370d11a713461ab55142 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u79cd41f1213e370d11a713461ab55142 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u79cd41f1213e370d11a713461ab55142:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u79cd41f1213e370d11a713461ab55142 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u79cd41f1213e370d11a713461ab55142 .u79cd41f1213e370d11a713461ab55142-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u79cd41f1213e370d11a713461ab55142:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: The Emergence of Colour EssayA film can always reveal something about the views in the period it was made in, and German Expressionist cinema is a prime example of this its disjointed, dramatic visual style and dark themes give an impression of a society that felt confused and oppressed. Throughout this exploration of the movement, it can be seen that the techniques used by filmmakers at the time had a large impact on many films made subsequently, right up until the present day, such as the aforementioned The Third Man and the film noir genre, and the work of Tim Burton. Although the progression of technology, first sound, and then colour, means that the way these films appear are different in many ways to German Expressionist films, aspects of the movement can definitely be seen in contemporary filmmaking techniques, showing that despite the movement only being at its peak for around a decade, the films and the techniques used within them have left a lasting impression on cinema. About 47 per cent of the energy that the sun releases to the earth actually reaches the ground. About a third is reflected directly back into space by the atmosphere. The time in which solar energy is available, is also the time we least need it least - daytime. Because the sun's energy cannot be stored for use another time, we need to convert the suns energy into an energy that can be stored. One possible method of storing solar energy is by heating water that can be insulated. The water is heated by passing it through hollow panels. Black-coated steal plates are used because dark colours absorb heat more efficiently. However this method only supplies enough energy for activities such as washing and bathing. The solar panels generate "low grade" heat, that is, they generate low temperatures for the amount of heat needed in a day. In order to generate "high grade" heat, intense enough to convert water into high-pressure stea m which can then be used to turn electric generators there must be another method. The concentrated beams of sunlight are collected in a device called a solar furnace, which acts on the same principles as a large magnifying glass. The solar furnace takes the sunlight from a large area and by the use of lenses and mirrors can focus the light into a very small area. Very elaborate solar furnaces have machines that angle the mirrors and lenses to the sun all day. This system can provide sizeable amounts of electricity and create extremely high temperatures of over 6000 degrees Fahrenheit. Solar energy generators are very clean, little waste is emitted from the generators into the environment. The use of coal, oil and gasoline is a constant drain, economically and environmentally. Will solar energy be the wave of the future? Could the worlds requirement of energy be fulfilled by the "powerhouse" of our galaxy - the sun? Automobiles in the future will probabl y run on solar energy, and houses will have solar heaters. lorrainekelly146http://www.blogger.com/profile/02917134569541227738noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6861576014703879476.post-61138190050989416862019-11-26T20:33:00.001-08:002019-11-26T20:33:03.059-08:00William Shakespeare Essays - Kings Men, William ShakespeareWilliam Shakespeare Essays - Kings Men, William Shakespeare William Shakespeare William Shakespeare William Shakespeare was born in the Hole Trinity Church in Stratford-upon-Avon in Warwickshire on April 23, 1564. He was the first son and third child of John Shakespeare, a leather tanner and a maker of gloves, and Mary Arden Shakespeare. Williams parents were married around 1558 and had a total of eight children, three of which died in childhood. Williams family had been living in the area of Warwickshire for many years and was respected. Williams father was at one time prosperous and elected to municipal offices. He was a member of the Stratford council in 1557 and appointed mayor in 1568. John was not without fault, though, and four times from 1570 to 1572 he faced prosecution for money lending and illegally buying wool. He fell into hard times financially and stopped buying property, went into dept, and even mortgaged part of his wifes inheritance. Despite financial difficulties in the family, the boy Williams education was not neglected, and he went to the local school in Stratford. Some scholars questions whether a single could have written all the great literature attributes to Shakespeare, citing his schooling as proof that he was poorly educated, but their assumption is probable false. ( ) The teachers in school the William had attended had degrees from Oxford, and the education that the boy received was likely very good. Exactly what young William did after his years of schooling is not really clear, but we do know that during the winter of 1582, at the age of 18, he married Anne Hathaway, the eldest daughter of Richard Hathaway. She was 26, much older than her teenage husband, and pregnant by him. BURNS2 The church announcement of the marriage was waived on November 28, 1582 and less than six months later their first child, Susanna, was baptized in Stratford church on May 26, 1583. Early in 1585, Anne gave birth to twins: Hament, their only son (who died young), and Judith, their second daughter. With a wife and three kids to maintain, and still dependent on his father one of the London acting companies that had been touring in Stratford. Shakespeare moved to London in 1585, where he was very successful. He was an actor and a writer and even owned his own playhouse. He was very respected man there. He was the first playwright to have his formal biography written and published with his works. By 1592 William was firmly established in the big city of London. He was all ready the author of ten plays and successful enough to inspire jealous and be called an upstart crow by a fellow dramatist, Robert Greene. ( ) Between 1592-1594 all the theatres were closed by an outbreak of the plague. So during this time Shakespeare turned to poetry, writing sonnets and two long narrative poems: Venus and Adonis and The Rape of Lucrece. When the theatres reopened in 1594, Shakespeare joined the newly - formed Lord Chamberlain's Men, and was entitled to a share of the profits. Such incidents are like a standup comedian placing a punch line in the middle of a joke. Here are some examples of slight adjustments of sentence construction for maximum impact: 1. ââ¬Å"He argued that the court is hardly a legal entity, for a variety of reasons.â⬠The point of the sentence is buried in its midsection, after which a modifier is tacked on, causing the sentence to stagger to a weak ending. Revise as follows: ââ¬Å"He argued that the court, for a variety of reasons, is hardly a legal entity.â⬠2. ââ¬Å"The Chinese were growing lettuce by the fifth century BC, where it represented good luck.â⬠Because ââ¬Å"the fifth century BCâ⬠could be treated grammatically as a location, the second clause could be misunderstood to refer to the time, not the place, which is furthermore only weakly implied by ââ¬Å"the Chinese.â⬠Strongly link the superstition to the people, rather than the country: ââ¬Å"The Chinese, who considered lettuce a symbol of good luck, were growing it by the fifth century BC.â⬠3. ââ¬Å"More than 600 schools or school districts nationwide have blocked the Web site, according to cofounder John Doe. Doe, who started the site . . .â⬠ââ¬Å"According toâ⬠attributions are often stronger at the head of a sentence. This revision also avoids the clumsy repetition of Doeââ¬â¢s name at the end of one sentence and the beginning of the next: ââ¬Å"According to cofounder John Doe, more than 600 schools or school districts nationwide have blocked the Web site. Doe, who started the site . . .â⬠4. ââ¬Å"Asquith recognized that the majority of his party wanted to steer clear of the approaching conflict- and, more to the point, a majority of his Cabinet.â⬠Wait the majority of his party wanted to steer clear of a majority of his Cabinet? Huh? Well, thatââ¬â¢s what it says. But thatââ¬â¢s not what it means. Hereââ¬â¢s what it means: ââ¬Å"Asquith recognized that the majority of his party- and, more to the point, a majority of his Cabinet- wanted to steer clear of the approaching conflict.â⬠So write it that way. 5. ââ¬Å"Yo-yos were first used as deadly weapons, not as toys.â⬠The mildly startling fact about the toyââ¬â¢s origins is best held back until the end of the sentence: ââ¬Å"Yo-yos were first used not as toys, but as deadly weapons.â⬠6. ââ¬Å"The model takes the social systems surrounding the alcoholic as crucial, most often the family.â⬠The specification of the primary social system should immediately follow ââ¬Å"the alcoholic,â⬠the focus of the sentence, rather than being buffered and weakened by the additional phrase ââ¬Å"as crucialâ⬠: ââ¬Å"The model takes the social systems surrounding the alcoholic, most often the family, as crucial.â⬠7. ââ¬Å"There, itââ¬â¢s become fashionable to hate Jews, as they are the proxies for Americans in the Middle East, some say puppets.â⬠As the sentence is written, the last phrase seems a muttered aside, rather than a key component of the statement. Inserting it, enclosed in em dashes, in the middle of the sentence gives it the prominence it needs: ââ¬Å"There, itââ¬â¢s become fashionable to hate Jews, as they are the proxies some say puppets for Americans in the Middle East.â⬠Want to improve your English in five minutes a day? As Kiesnoski (2008) points out, there was a 30% rise in the number of American tourists to Morocco on an annual basis since 2008 and it seems that America has been hostile to Morocco all along. However, the situation is improving due to a number of reasons. As such, this paper seeks to critically evaluate the perceptions held by the Americans towards this country and the measures that can be implemented by Morocco in order to attract American tourists. Basically, Morocco is different from the other Middle East nations as a result of different cuisine and traditions. Morocco has the relics of Arab, French, Spanish and Portuguese traditions. As a result of these favorable conditions one can see that the nation is not as calamitous as its Middle East neighbors. Admittedly, Morocco has relatively good relations with the U.S. from the 1950s and the US Government has been working along with the Moroccan authorities to improve the lives of Moroccans. While other nations were turned upside down by citizens calling for revolution, and as the rulers of those nations retorted with military and weapon resulting in mass killings, Morocco witnessed peaceful agitations which are legally allowed and a peaceful referendum from the King offering limited monarchic power. Coskun (2011) posits to the effect that another important point is that unlike other Islamic nations which want to end the rule of monarchs, the majority of the electorate in Morocc o expressed total trust in the King. Thus, according to The Financial Times (2011) report, by adopting a constitutional monarchy like that of Spain or the UK, which is politically open and economically liberal, Morocco stands farther ahead of its Arab companions. Morocco always attracted different types of tourists due to its diversity in cultural tourism it offered. Tourists to Morocco get a chance to experience the various languages, cultures, dresses, and lifestyles lorrainekelly146http://www.blogger.com/profile/02917134569541227738noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6861576014703879476.post-58778843994403706792019-11-19T17:40:00.001-08:002019-11-19T17:40:04.231-08:00Managing Diversity Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words - 1Managing Diversity - Essay Example The history of transport in UK can be traced back to over 4000 years ago, when man was using stone tools and making the transition from a nomadic existence, living by hunting and gathering his food, to living in settlements and developing agricultural skills. Although, history of transport is very old, only during the 1930s, a few roads were upgraded to dual carriageways as a means of relieving unemployment but it was the motorway network that started to develop in the early 1960s that were the first major additions to the road network. (Reference: Shropshire Transport) Modern day today, this industry being the 5th largest employment sector in the country and over 2.3 million people being employed, the need to upgrade the employment process and policies and match the same with the other industries has risen. This is more so important to this industry as people of diverse background and cultures have taken this as a means of employment. This is where the organizational behavior comes into picture to manage diversity and aiming at "Equality" and "Equal Opportunities" for employees. As some of the greats put it, Diversity in an organization is defined as ""Diversity within organisations is about recognising the range of differences in people and valuing people as individuals, respecting their differences and their differing needs. It is also about accommodating differences wherever possible so that an individual can play a full part in the working environment" (Daniels and Macdonald, 2005, p.1). First and foremost, it has to be recognized that an individual alone is unable to fulfil all his needs and wishes and he lacks the ability, strength and time or endurance for achieving all these single handed. Therefore, he must rely on others for help to achieve these. As several people are involved, there is a need to co-ordinate and establish a chain of mutual help. It is a plain truth and fact that in order to achieve organizational goals, all involved in the system have to accommodated and looked after with the same level of interest. Respect for individuals, irres pective of caste, creed and culture is the key. This is the basic concept of managing diversity and bringing all involved, under the same umbrella with no discrimination and giving all an equal opportunity. There are many different ways of defining "equality". When looking at equality initiatives in employment, "Equal Opportunities" has become a common label. But there are many different definitions of "Equal Opportunities". The Collins Concise Dictionary defines "inequality" as "the state or quality of being unequal; disparity" (Collins Concise Dictionary, 1989, p.639). In determining inequality, a moral judgement has to be made about whether social difference is better or worse (Vincent, 1995, p.4). The focus (of EO) is on preventing unfair discrimination, so that when two people have the lorrainekelly146http://www.blogger.com/profile/02917134569541227738noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6861576014703879476.post-23894860384124710592019-11-17T06:12:00.001-08:002019-11-17T06:12:05.872-08:00Blondes and Brunettes Essay Example for Free Blondes and Brunettes Essay Glorious and beautiful, Blondes and Brunettes have been in rival for the precious rigors of magnificence. Fancying into the limelight, subdue one into conspiracy against exquisiteness, musing at the same time to the countless difference that had been nurtured. Blondes propel themselves in to the height of success and perfection. Brunettes on the other hand, articulates striking uphold on developing holistically. Blondes and Brunettes adversary with one another goes beyond just beauty it is more to the glorious point of the perfection. The parties deem appropriate to necessitate mediation, to further analyze their conflict. ââ¬Å"Mediation is a fair and efficient process to help you resolve your employment disputes and reach an agreement. A neutral mediator assists you in reaching a voluntary, negotiated agreement. â⬠The Mediator A goddess was the preferred mediator for this practice. This Goddess is in any form fine-looking and wonderful. The Goddess made known: Parties, today between any trials and travails that might be encountered we mediate a difference of opinion and vision. Kindly put into mind that in no way I will provide a proposal and formulate obligatory actions to the issue at hand. Benevolently, there are rules to carry out: First, under the Florida Rules for Certified and Court-Appointed Mediators, Rule 10. 330(c) I shall not in any manner, neither receive nor accept a gift, favor, loan, or other item of value in this process. Any favorable fad that might be offered shall rule this course of action be brought into a halt. Second, under the Florida Rules for Certified and Court-Appointed Mediators, Rule 10. 340(b) obliges me to disclose any potential conflict of interests. Since I am the goddess, I assume an equal position on the subject for I am the Beauty and Power in all structure itself. It is in my significance to procure this arbitration to carry on with my existence. And to satisfy the conditions set by this rules, I will allow the two parties to progress toward a resolution as justified by Rule 10. 310(b) and in no means shall I have the right to interfere with such since my sole responsibility is to reduce obstacles to communication, assist in the identification of issues and exploration of alternatives as specified in Rule 10. 220. With all this, as the Goddess of Beauty and Power I will in all diligence bestow my uncompromising integrity and impassioned advocacy in this mediation. The convention was set and so if parties are acquiescent to the rules we will now ensue the mediation. Parties will be having the opportunity to take the floor. With this, each shall speak before this process their position, what would they like to achieve, and any other issues presumably measurable with the subject matter. Humanely, let us maintain proper demeanor. Listening would be the key to understanding. Problems Blondes I am the true enigma of beauty, with my hair that shines with the finniest strand of wellness. That is the reason why even before when the TV was invented, in the 15th and 16th Century in Italy, women were dying their hair blond. Womens desire to resemble the pronounce aptness of having flaxen hair was a vogue. And so Barbie became the superstar doll in the planet. A miniature copy of blondes with small waist, large breasts, and blue eyesââ¬âis an unswerving, pragmatic, and rational response why the Blondes symbolize beauty. Well, Brunettes may say that brunette dolls were also created on the latter part of time, but then it only shows that Brunettes is a second rater, to think that manufacturers took time before realizing whatââ¬â¢s with Brunettesââ¬â¢ beauty. Principally, I donââ¬â¢t like Brunettesââ¬â¢ beauty being leveled with mine, Brunette has now invaded the Television, Print Ads and Magazine which I donââ¬â¢t think is right since Iââ¬â¢ve already assumed the top position of exquisiteness, Brunette doesnââ¬â¢t consider that I may feel harmed because of her immense move that threaten reputation. Basically, I want Brunettes not competing with my attractiveness, Brunettesââ¬â¢ intelligence surely has opted me to deal with the matter as Brunetteââ¬â¢s Incursion made me look bad at times. Brunettes I have not invaded Blondesââ¬â¢ position, since I was made to be on top by people who believed that my Brunettes hair matched by my exotic beauty is a masterpiece. It might be true that she was first made to be a doll, truly darling, charismatic beauty that she might possess. But people evolve and so the standards of Beauty. Since she was dethroned from the position she initially had I donââ¬â¢t put it in the way that I overran Blondesââ¬â¢ spot in the society. Blondes might as well consider that my beauty is universal since I won a lot of Ms. Universe titles with my crowning glory put into place with elegance. Blondesââ¬â¢ Bluntness, at times impairs my feelings as well, especially when Blondesââ¬â¢ Confidence overflows against mine. With this, I covet for Blondes to face the reality that she is not anymore in the throne of beauty. Just let Blondes leave the position to me, since Blondes beauty has been there long enough it is time for Blondes beauty rest. Discussion The following are only some of the issues perceptible on the matter: 1. ) Since Blondes and Brunettes fancy for the same affair it is apparent that an objective based solution can not be put into practice. This is for the reason that pursuing what they want which is the same, triggers that it would likely end up on having one winner and that is not the purpose of this mediation. 2. ) Brunette pushing Blondes on the Beauty Scale and Blondes doing the same thing to Brunette, establish a particular and concrete issue which on the hand, the parties see coming about in a different way. 3. ) There are some issues of little factors (Bluntness Moves, etc. ) that add big to the problem which needs to be solved. Primarily, the subsequent step is to letting the parties become conscious that there both of them should feel successful in this mediation not leaving anyone behind. Mediator: Well, I see a continuous conflict between the two of you which transpires everyday as you live your life on earth. My deep concern is for us to find out why this is palpable to take place. I think we need to look at the collective cause of all thisâ⬠¦ Blondes: As the world continues to evolve, Iââ¬â¢ve noticed Brunettes coming through Hollywood and making arrangements on doing movies, print and TV advertisements the same things that I craft, which is just fine at first but when I read in the gossip magazine that she plans to make every Blondes feel that she owns it all, that pushed my alarm. Brunettes: That is not so true; I worked my way hard enough to get into that position and did not in any way pilfer prior arrangements of yours. I am just getting my piece of cake. It just so happen that when I stumble into a gossip magazine, I read that you find Brunettes doesnââ¬â¢t have the talent as Blonde possesses. Blondes: Think again! Iââ¬â¢m just doing my job because people find my beauty very suitable for them to be entertained and informed as well. I just accepted the offer for Blondes which they discover to very pleasing to their eyes. Brunettes: You did not say in an interview that I am not talented? Blondes: No I did not. I heard you were the one backstabbing me by saying that Brunettes just got it all unlike Blondes. Brunettes: So why donââ¬â¢t we get rid of that gossip magazine? So you can work your stuff and Iââ¬â¢ll do mine without any ridiculous side comments from a gossip magazine? Blondes: That canââ¬â¢t be! They make and break us, why just we do more nasty sayings against each other for us to be more popular? The mediator is extremely crucial at this point since the parties ascertained a core issue initially not taken into account. This may bring further variance later on. Mediator: The arguments were by far very interesting, but let us not generate auxiliary problems. To be definite that I get your point let me reaffirm your statements: Blondes, you stipulated that Brunette tries to push you away from the limelight because of the gossip youââ¬â¢ve read in the Magazine that Brunettes would take over your entire career. Brunettes, you sense it not good that Blondes find Brunettes not as talented as they like what youââ¬â¢ve read in the gossip magazine. This made you realize that all along the two of you may not have any problem with one anotherââ¬â¢s existence. Let us continue on what Blondesââ¬â¢ work is all about. This is the time to make compromising into action, finding some common ground for both parties in which they would understand that the origin of their problem is not removable but can be settled by letting them to come into conclusion. Caucus is significant at this point of mediation. Its main purpose is to know whether the parties have qualms not wanting to be addressed to the other party. Also, this is the time they can they create special consideration they are willing to fulfill. Caucus with Blondes Mediator: I truly understand how you feel Blondes. To be recognized in the scene of stardom is very essential. Do you have any matter you are akin to unveil between the two of us only? Blondes: Probably, I just felt that Brunettes might one day take all the glory in the limelight and not even a single shed will be bound to Blondes. Brunettes: Well, I just want to clear things that I never pushed the Blondes away, not even try to challenge their position in the industry; I know theyââ¬â¢ve been there and I respect their beginnings. I just work hard and do my best all the time. As it seems both of the parties are now kind of released their disputes, it is apparent though that they find the other party to have been the one who started the conflict. Third Parties Importance of third parties in mediation is highly significant. It is a unique method to let the parties recognize what effect they bring on third parties. On this process the third party present was 37 year old Lina Casimiro, a bald cancer patient, who is undergoing chemotherapy sessions. Some benefits of having a second mediator for the Parties/Participants are: a. The mediation team can represent disputants diverse characteristics (e. g. male/female, Anglo/Hispanic, older/younger, etc. ) b. A disputant has a better chance of feeling a sense of trust with at least one of the two mediators. c. The disputants have the advantage of the combined skills of two mediators, whose skills usually enhance and complement each other. d. Co-mediators can model co-operative problem-solving and direct-as in as a director or speaking directly to disputants. e. There is a better check on mediators biases or shortcomings. And for the Mediator: a. Having a partner eases the load and tension of mediation, especially in difficult cases and multi-party situations b. Tasks can be comfortably divided when mediators are intentionally paired (e. g. a person skilled at handling emotions matched with a person skilled at practical problem solving). c. A team is less likely to be co-opted by a party . d. Co-mediators can learn new techniques from each other in the process. e. Sessions can be debriefed and strategies planned with a Co-mediator. f. A less experienced mediator can work with a more experienced mediator. The concept of bring a bald woman with cancer divulges the neglect of what a hair she wears literally but how she lives her life as a person without any representation of being any of the parties. Moreover, co-mediation, ââ¬Å"it is a recognized fact in the construction industry that if a mediator has technical knowledge of the major issues involved in the dispute, there is a greater chance that the mediator will be able to bring the parties together to reach an amicable settlement. â⬠Lina can bring a new light into the dispute since she manages a different lifestyle as compared to the parties. Mediator I would like to bring in my co-mediator, Lina Casimiro, she is a cancer patient, and is now undergoing some chemotherapy session which is noticeable due to the baldness. I hope that she can make possible a more successful mediation process by providing some insights on some of the issues we are discussing. Blonde, you may now continueâ⬠¦ Blondes: Well, somehow I still think that Brunettes would like to assume the position of being the best beauty in the world. Since, when I look into different medium of exposures, she is always there, and though she would not totally eradicate us, she imposes to lessen our limelight. Brunettes: I am doing my work because it is my passion not because I want to harm Blondes! Moderator: May I know Blondes, if you ever wonder why Brunette entered the scenario in one way or another as you feel, taken away something from you? Lina: In my situation, where I must not think when will I die, the best possible way to somehow lessen that burden is to entertain myself by watching TV or reading magazines, its good to see variety of beautiful people as I may not see them again in the near future. Blondes: Thatââ¬â¢s really touching to know. Do you still find Blondes beautiful? Lina: Of course, all the time and even Brunettes too. Brunettes: I told you Blondes, the standard of beauty is fast evolving and so the thinking and appreciation of people. So may I ask how do you find the difference between Brunettes and Blondes? Lina: Hair color is not really important chiefly when you have nothing to spare with like me. But those who have like you Brunettes and Blondes, your crowning glory donââ¬â¢t define you as a person, but how you live as a person of either a light-colored or dark colored hair. A healthy competition indeed, is what makes the world exciting and worth living. One canââ¬â¢t live without the other. As for me, that time is the essence; all is beautiful all is fine, as long as we breathe and we appreciate. We may have difficult times because we are different, but we settle on one thing, that we are here to take lifeââ¬â¢s challenges. Blondes: Iââ¬â¢m happy that we, in our own little way become life support for others. Brunettes: I honestly feel that too. The mediation process now has the prowess of a positive outlook. The parties are now on the process of re-evaluating their roles in this conflict and openly received answers from a third party for the issue they initially unlocked. With this, they were able to find more about themselves, and how important a life is to another. The Parties come to the stage of comprehending that life on Earth has sought to address the needs of man as man and not merely of man in so far as to be more than them. Mediation will still proceed until the Blondes and Brunettes relate that beauty is not about who has more and who possesses less but instead it is to mettle with rigorous challenges that may come your way. Both parties accept the friendly and healthy competitions that relatively occur in a more positive manner. Conclusion: This case is about the generality of people that perceive Brunettes and Blondes as different human beings. Perhaps, it may also be a crate with regards to racism. What was brought out here is the fact that in our lives and as our culture dictates, subject with consideration to higher forms of beauty or any other things become a national and even universal debate on belief and points of view. Third parties in mediation process shed a different light in the matter concerned and being discussed in mediation. There presence in the process voluntarily widens the perception of the parties as they bring in their own. Problems have solutions as well as their causes. For some reason, the cause is not initially perceived by the parties involved. With that affair on the table, comes Mediation which in so many ways would incur the initial issue that must have been first resolved. lorrainekelly146http://www.blogger.com/profile/02917134569541227738noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6861576014703879476.post-60097342853951124222019-11-14T18:44:00.001-08:002019-11-14T18:44:03.141-08:00othello :: essays research papers The play, Othello was written by William Shakespeare in the later years of his career. Giraldi Cinthios, Tale of a Moor, based Othello on a story that was a mellow Drama, about a moor and his doubts about his wifeââ¬â¢s fidelity. In Shakespeareââ¬â¢s play the Moor (Othello) convinced by his jealous aid (Iago) that his wife (Desdemona) is not Being faithful. Iagoââ¬â¢s jealousy is motivated by his anger when he learns that Cassio of Florentine has been appointed Governor of Cyprus. He felt that he deserved this promotion and vowed to seek revenge against Othello. Othello being a Moor commanding the armies of Venice is a celebrated general and heroic figure whose ââ¬Å"free and open nature ââ¬Å" will enable Iago to twist his love for his wife, Desdemona into a powerful jealousy. Iago is Othelloââ¬â¢s ensign, and Shakespeareââ¬â¢s greatest villain. His public face of honesty and bravery conceals a satanic delight in manipulation and destruction. . The crucial moment in the play is the scene where Iago deceives Othello and induces him to fall. He does this by expanding the tactics used in prior scenes. Iago plants the seed of doubt in the Moorââ¬â¢s mind when he says, ââ¬Å"Ha! I like that not ââ¬Å" (III, iii) as they came upon Cassio and Desdemona talking. He then retreats into a guise as ââ¬Å"honest Iagoâ⬠as he did in the brawl (II, ii). When he was the reluctant truth teller who must have unpleasant news dragged from him by a determined Othello. The honesty by him being reluctant to speak is reinforced by the moralizing tone he takes with his commander. Iago actually lectures Othello about his jealousy ââ¬Å"the green-eyed monsterâ⬠and insisting that heââ¬â¢ll not speak slander ââ¬Å"he that filches from me my good name / Robs of that which not enriched him / And makes me poor indeedâ⬠(III, iii). At the same time he is playing upon Othelloââ¬â¢s insecurities by lecturing him on how Venetian women are deceitful and treacherous by nature. The seizure of the handkerchief is a great achievement for Iago in his quest to destroy Othello and was aided by his wife, who apparently has no scruples about betraying her mistress in small matters.
